Aultmore, near the Speyside town of Keith and named after the nearby Burn of Auchinderran , are part of the John Dewar group, who are in turn owned by Bacardi. There is no official current single malt release; the 3 million litre capacity goes into Dewar’s blends. However, there are several excellent independent bottlings available, and we have selected this Connoisseurs Choice by Gordon and Macphail.
The Whisky Tasting Club Notes:
Nose: Tangerines, toffee, grapes, mango with oak lurking way off in the distance. Eventually, a strong hit of honey and lemon cough sweets.
Palate: Initially, light and creamy sherry with some fairly sappy and heavy oak spice, gradually replaced by honey and a lighter tingly spice with vanilla ice cream on the finish.
