Blair Athol is one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, founded in 1798 near the town of Pitlochry in the South of the Central Highlands. Owned by drinks giant Diageo, the majority of the 2.5 million litres production goes into Bells whisky. This flora and fauna 12 year old is the only official distillery bottling and it is a full bodied whisky matured in sherry casks. The water for Blair Athol is provided by the burn Allt Dour, which means "burn of the otter" in Gaelic – hence the otter on the label.
