The Lowland region of Scotland covers the area just North of Glasgow, across to Fife and down to the English border. Auchentoshan, just north of Glasgow, is one of only three remaining Lowland distilleries. Whereas most distilleries in the world double distill their spirit, the Lowland approach has traditionally been to triple distill it, as is done in many Irish distilleries. The Three Wood has been matured in three different cask types. Moving from American bourbon to Spanish oloroso sherry - and finally Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.
